Emilia de las Carreras is a visual artist whose practice centers on the collection of discarded materials for the creation of sculptures, installations, and site-specific works. In her works, residual and found materials acquire new layers of time and meaning. Car windows, bottle caps, organic remains, and construction debris become active fragments that evoke geological formations of human origin. Her methodology brings together three strands: a sensory inquiry into the body; research informed by medicine and biology; and processes of fictionalization that reframe waste as a site of knowledge. Through collaborative processes of collection and assembly, her works sustain a tension between violence and care, the residual and the communal, the found and the created. De Las Carreras was selected as one of Salta art’s 2026 artists-in-residence at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus in Munich.
