Gabriela Mureb is based in Rio de Janeiro where she is Professor of Visual Arts in the Sculpture Department at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Her work deals primarily with the appropriation of industrial parts to produce works situated between sculpture, installation, performance, and sound. She is interested in how machines inherently carry, in their shape and movement, information about the context and bodies that produce them, thus making viewers aware of the political implications of their invention, production and use. Mureb wasartist in residence at the AIR-M Ebenböckhaus in Munich from July to September 2023.
