Buenos Aires-based artist Andrés Aizicovich (Buenos Aires, 1985) has been selected for Salta art’s program 2024 at AIR-M Ebenböckhaus in Munich. A residency is a collaboration between Salta art and the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
In his works, Aizicovich transforms the ephemeral act of speech into art through conversation and collaboration. Questions like “How can spoken word become matter or an artistic medium?” are central to his artistic endeavors. Pushing the boundaries of sculpture by treating air itself as a material, Aizicovich employs a deeply social process. Through interviews and fieldwork, he collaborates with diverse voices – scientists, luthiers, storytellers – – to create a diverse array of perspectives.
Aizicovich’s selection was made by Salta art’s committee members, Gloria Hasnay (interim director, Kunstverein München), José Roca (artistic director, 23rd Biennale of Sydney, director, FLORA ars+natura) and curator Kiki Mazzucchelli and a representative from the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
