In September, Salta art congratulates Amanda Carneiro from Brazil to having been chosen as a resident to the City of Munich’s Villa Waldberta, Feldafing, Germany. Carneiro is an assistant curator at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) and co-editor of Afterall: a Journal of art, context and enquiry published by Central Saint Martins.

Carneiro is looking forward  to being  immersed in the local scene.  In her words: “‘Don’t think of crisis, work.’ I recalled the social media slogan while applying to Salta’s residency, to move in the opposite direction: it is time to address the crisis as a moment that brings to light conflicts buried beneath routines and daily gestures.

“I am excited about the time, structure, and connections waiting for me soon in Munich –  from archives such as the ‘Forum Queeres Archiv München e.V.’ to contemporary exhibitions such as the one dedicated to Tony Cokes at Haus der Kunst. This interchange period with artists, curators, collections, museums and art institutions creates opportunities to reflect, share and widen my curatorial practice.

Carneiro was nominated, shortlisted by Salta art’s council and then selected by the City of Munich Department of Arts and Culture

We look forward to receiving her in Munich!
