The upcoming residency is in collaboration with the City of Munich and the Artist-in-Residence program at Ebenböckhaus. Munich Salta art offers one position to a visual artist from South America. August 14th to November 12th, 2023: in collaboration with Pivô Salta art offers a residency in São Paulo, Brazil for a contemporary visual artist, curator or cultural worker from Munich.In the interview, Noujaim speaks about her use of the Greek myth, Leda and the Swan, in which the god Zeus, in the form of a swan, seduces and copulates with the wife of Sparta, Leda.
The story reflects the artist’s ongoing interest in hybrid manifestations of interspecies relations. Noujaim relates her interest in hybridism to her own practice, a hybrid of dance and sculpture, that she explains began with the natural want to “merge the movement of materials with the movement of the body”. Noujaim goes on to talk about her interest in Goethe’s concept of morphology, the importance of visual scores in her work, and the on-going influence of Eastern movement on her own choreography. Noujaim’s current interest in Indian classical dance, which she discovered through her interest in Indian spirituality.
